It’s Friday! For once I’m actually, sort of, ahead of the game. Yesterday it felt like +35 C (95 F) so I packed up Little C and drove to Marshs Lake at Spruce Woods Park which is a short 20 minutes away from my house. It was a beautiful drive, with the gold, orange, red and green leaves sprinkled all over the landscape and farmers finishing the last of the harvest. The park was deserted, save for one couple who drove in to enjoy lunch under an enclosure, and Little C was sleeping so I enjoyed a few (ok, 15) minutes of blissful solitude, soaking up the sounds of leaves blowing in the air and the water lapping at the shore.
Our Thanksgiving holiday is in a few weeks (always the 2nd Monday in October) and it’s my favourite time of year! By the time Halloween rolls around there is always a risk of snow, so Thanksgiving is really the only time we have (besides the autumn equinox, obviously) to really celebrate the season. I think we’ll be hosting a dinner, so I can’t wait to get started on planning!
Here’s some reading material to enjoy!
